Pacifico Minerals kicks off maiden gold drilling at Berrio in Columbia
Date£º2014/5/21
Pacifico Minerals (ASX:PMY) has commenced a maiden drilling program comprising at least 1,500 metres of diamond drilling at the high grade Berrio Gold Project in Columbia.

A 9 hole program will test a minimum of 8 high-grade gold zones defined from recent underground channel sampling and ground geophysical surveys.

As a result of the results from phase 2 channel sampling, Pacifico¡¯s understanding of the Berrio mineralisation has significantly improved, with ongoing mapping results suggesting a series of veins within wider mineralised shear zones.

The channel sampling confirmed high grade gold including 2.1 metres at 183 grams per tonne gold, 2.7 metres at 144 grams per tonne gold, and 1.1 metres at 123 grams per tonne gold.

These workings attest to the significant upside potential at Berrio, with 53 contiguous samples taken along 106 metres of strike length averaging 18.9 grams per tonne gold and 9.5 grams per tonne silver.

Pacifico has constructed a new operations centre to facilitate onsite core logging, cutting, and sample preparation, with initial gold assay results for the first drill holes expected in June.

Pacifico recently raised $3.62 million via a placement to sophisticated and institutional investors at $0.038, to advance exploration at Berrio.

The company is also conducting a share purchase plan to existing shareholders, on the same terms, to raise a further $1.2 million.

Strong interest from both institutional and retail investors has been a vote of confidence in Pacifico's Colombian gold assets and strategy.
